People Recommended to Get Booster Shots Where Initially Vaccinated

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of National Defence is advising locals and foreigners in Cambodia to get their booster shots where they were initially vaccinated. For foreigners who were vaccinated in another country, this means they will not be eligible for a booster shot in Cambodia. For foreign residents and locals, this simply means they should return to their original vaccination site to receive their booster shot.

Speaking after inspecting the administering of booster doses in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Chief Executive Officer of Covid-19 Vaccination at the Ministry of National Defense, General Ith Sarath, said he believed this would make it easier for the military and Ministry of Health to rollout the booster shots, with different sections of the population having different vaccination cards.

He says those who have a RFAC vaccination card, they will be given a booster shot no matter where in the country they are at the time. "Separately, those who were injected by the Ministry of Health will have a blue card and so we ask them to go back to the exact same place where they were first injected.” He says this will make it easier to administer the rollout of doses in terms of location and the number of doses needed there.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of National Defence, a total of 2,732,380 military personnel and their families have been fully-vaccinated. 341,571 have received their booster shot.
